1. Copy one handout for each individual student.
2. The grammar auction can be done as a quiz in small teams, or alternatively make students work individually. Distribute the handouts to each individual student.
3. Focus students' attention on the instructions. Students should first correct the sentences where there are errors with the present simple. Not all sentences have errors.
4. Assign students a number of money which is to be used to bet with. Next, go through the sentences with the students or teams as a whole group. Students place bets using an amount of their money (don't allow them to bet all their money in case they lose and go out) depending on how sure they are the sentences are correct. Get feedback on the board and the groups that bet correctly double their money. Those who got it wrong lose the credits they bet with. Keep a score on the board, and the team with the highest score at the end wins.
